About the event
Following on the success of the 2023 tour of Ireland, the WHS is excited to announce that booking is now open to members only for our 4-day tour of Scotland in September 2025. From a vernacular farmstead and an urban tenement to some of Scotland's finest stately homes, this tour will embrace Scotland's rich history of material culture and design – with a particular focus on wallpaper. Beginning in Glasgow, we will visit the pioneering buildings and interiors of Margaret MacDonald and Charles Rennie Mackintosh, before heading into the Highlands to see a faithfully restored rural longhouse. Travelling through some of Scotland's most beautiful and varied scenery we will finish in Edinburgh and the Borders, taking in Traquair - Scotland's oldest stately home - and Abbotsford, the baronial fantasy built by Sir Walter Scott.
