WHS 25th anniversary conference
To celebrate the Society’s 25th anniversary, a packed one-day conference was organised at the Victoria and Albert Museum entitled ‘Past, Present, and Future – 25 years of Wallpaper’.
Curators, conservators, designers and manufacturers gave presentations covering topics ranging from historical overviews and conservation techniques to recent developments in digital printing and contemporary ‘artist wallpapers’. The first 25 years of the Society saw a decline in the UK wallpaper industry followed by its revival, along with new technologies, designs, and increasingly sophisticated conservation techniques for historic papers.
